One of the more unique dives in Key West, the Ten-Fathom Bar is a mini-wall dive that begins at 25 feet and then continues onto a quick and steep drop, ending at a depth of 130 feet. Make sure that when you come out here on your own boat that you anchor on the top of the wall and not try for the 130 feet depth. The water around the Ten-Fathom Bar is really clear despite the current that is sometimes present. The dive site is actually quite popular with divers down in Key West, in part for the visibility, in part for the uniqueness of the mini-wall, and in part for the great species that are found down here. You will typically find sea life such as eagle rays, porcupine fish, spiny lobster, a variety of vibrant tropical fish, and grouper. The coral down here is also fascinating, with barrel sponges sometimes being as big as a human. The reef at the Ten-Fathom Bar goes on for four miles total.
