All-Alone on Ten-Fathom Ledge

Despite the dive spot's erie name, you won't feel lonely when surrounded by the incredible sea life at the All-Alone dive spot in Key West. The spot is located on Ten-Fathom Ledge, one mile southwest of Western Sambo Reef.

Ninety feet below the water's surface is the wreck of a 75-foot tug boat and the dive site ominously titled, All-Alone. The tug boat's hull is parted, making a comfortable home for barracuda, snook, grouper and countless other sea creatures.

All Alone is one of the most popular dive sites in the Florida Keys. Because it lies 90 feet below the surface, it's regarded as an intermediate to advanced dive with a perfect balance of challenge, beauty and history. If some of the members in your group are looking for a simpler dive, they won't be disappointed in the shallower beauty Ten-Fathom Ledge has to offer as well.

Ten-Fathom Ledge's close proximity to the Gulf Stream means clear waters at the All-Alone wreck, so don't forget to take your camera. The visibility is about as good as it gets, offering unbeatable photo opportunities of the vibrant corals and brightly-colored sea life. All-Alone is known as one of the best locations in Key West for underwater photography. Capture images of eagle rays, spiny lobsters and sharks to take home and wow your friends.

Not much is known about the history of the tugboat or the wreck, so divers are left to speculate on what might have happened as they swim through the boat's hull and nature's caverns, ledges and outcroppings. Because of All-Alone's unique location, remarkable visibility and abundance of sea life, it's often regarded as a must-see spot for divers in the Florida Keys.
